Can reading make you smarter?

Here’s a short article from the Guardian which quite nicely summarises the difference between crystallised and fluid intelligence – and briefly reviews some of the evidence supporting the idea that intelligence can increase as a result of education.

This could be tied into the ‘growth mindset’ idea – and the idea that extended reading and learning that stretches working memory can result in increases to ‘intelligence’.
